The Hopper Family Genealogy Vol. I and Vol. II

Descendants of Andries Willemszen Hoppe(n) of New Amsterdam 1651-1658 can be viewed  in the  indexes of individuals identified in the first nine generations.  You can check to see if your relatives are included in the book by viewing the indexes. These indexes are PDF file so you will need to have the Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view and search them.

NOTE: The index to Vol. I  has some names in blue. Those names were either not in the original 2005 edition or have additional information on them found in the Additions and Corrections in the Book Update Section of this website. They are included in the Volume I edition.

In the Volume II Index, Descendants in the seventh generation  retain the number assigned in Volume I. For example Christian Hopper is #1226 in Vol. I and Vol. II. His first child Garret Hopper is #1226-1 of the eighth generation and Garret Hopper's second child is #1226-1-2 Edward Hopper, well known American artist, of the ninth generation. In both indexes married couples are listed both under their own name and their spouse or spouses' names.

In the 17th 18th and early 19th century most of the Hoppers lived in Bergen County and the surrounding counties in New Jersey and New York. As a result the index contains multiple entries  for the names most commonly recognized as Bergen County Families, including among many others, Ackerman, Banta, Blauvelt, Bogert, Demarest, Doremus, durie (Durye) Eckerson, Haring, Post, Smith, Storms, Terhune, Van Blarcom, Van Horn, Van Houten, Van Orden, Van Riper, Van Voorhees, Voorhis, Westervelt and Zabriskie, and many more.
